Halloween 2009

Dracula - Harrison
Dracula and Basketball Player Julian

Little Red Riding Hood Olivia
Millie spent a lot of time sewing Olivia's cape, vest, and skirt, so I wish I had a better picture of her. She also sewed Harrison's medalion, cumberbun, and bow-tie. We had a lot of fun trick-or-treating, and having a Green family Halloween party at our house as well.

Olivia's new bed...

Millie's Grandpa Rogers made this bed for her when she was a little girl, and now I have repainted it for our little girl Olivia. We sent the kids to grandma's house for the night and we snuck the new bed into the house to set it up for Olivia. Of course the boys knew she was getting a new bed, but it was a complete surprise for Olivia. When we brought them home for the night, we all gathered in Olivia's room before her to see her reaction. Olivia crept into her room with apprehension, and then just stood there starring at her bed for about twenty seconds without moving. Finally something in her little mind registered that this was her new big girl bed. With glee she ran towards it to jump up on it. In excitement all of the kids got on the bed to jump and play around on it.

After some time we got them all calmed down and put to bed. Olivia was beside herself with this new found freedom. Gently we tucked her into bed and closed the door on the way out; not ten second later we hear her sticking her head out of the door asking Mommy for a glass of water. The funny thing was that she was handing her a cup that was full of water. She crept out of bed and out of her room a few more times that night, but eventually slept very soundly on her bed.

Just look how little she is in her big girl bed!!!

Have you ever wondered what a pregnant ghost looks like? Well, wonder no more, because thanks to Harrison and his five year old imagination we can see one.

Julian Lost his tooth...Finally!

Saturday night the boys came running in from outside. Julian it seems had finally lost his first tooth. The tooth that had been hanging on by a thread for about 3 months now. Everyone was very excited phone calls were made congratulations given and then the rest of the story. So, Julian how did you finally lose your tooth?? His reply "Harrison punched me in the mouth." Harrison just giggled. It seems they were playing one of their famous wrestling games and Julian got hit. There were no hard feelings. I'm not sure if that is because all is fair in love and wrestling OR if he was just so excited that his tooth came out that he didn't care. Either way at least it is out. On a related story, he was brushing his teeth last night and I noticed that the tooth that got hit at the end of the school year last year is looking like it might need to be pulled. The dentist said to watch it. I told Julian that the tooth which is wiggly needs to be wiggled so that it would come out next. I gave him 2 weeks or we would go and see the dentist. Julian was understandably up set after all it took months for the other one to come out. Harrison came to the rescue though... (sigh)"I just have to knock that one out too!"

Poor Julian

Near the end of Julian's school year he had the misfortune of running into a pole while running at recess. He bit through his upper lip, and dislodged a few of his baby teeth. He was a trooper though. : )

Our day at the zoo...Mommy and me day 2009

Grandma Pfaff got us shirts that allowed us to get into the zoo free, because it was Mommy and Me Day at the zoo.

What the what...Julian?!?

The other night Millie was coming out of the bathroom after a shower, when Julian looked up from his pile of LEGOS to ask her, "Do we use Ivory soap?"

"Yes," Millie lied.

"Good, because other leading brands of soap leave a filmy residue on your skin!"

The View From Our Hotel Room

More Vegas Pictures

Our Family Vacation to Las Vegas

We left home at 6am (SHARP), well ok, 6:02am, for our family vacation to Las Vegas. The kids were ubber excited, but did very well on the long road trip down there. We olny had to stop twice. We arrived in Las Vegas at 12 noon, their time, so we had to find a quick lunch for the kids. Frankly, I have never eaten in a more fancy McDonald's in my life (I just wish the food was a bit more fancy). After that we began our long trip down the strip to our hotel, The Excalibur. We dropped Millie and Olivia off at the front door to check in while Hannah, the boys and I drove down to the Mirage to pick up some show tickets. Hannah suprised Millie and I with a night out on the town. She bought us ticket to the amazaingly beautiful production of Love (it is the Beatles Circus...acrobate show). Before we saw the show, we took the kids over to see the lions at the MGM Grand, and then over to the M&M World store to see the 3-D movie.

The next morning the kids got up real early, so I snuck them out of the hotel room so Millie and Hannah could get some rest. We drove down to Treasure Island and parked there. We walked out in front of the Treasure Island to see the ships, then we crossed over to the Venitian to look into the wax museum there. The boys were very excited to see Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), in the museums front window (There was also Whoopie Goldburg and Poveroti). We then rode the moving sidewalks over to the Harrah's Casino. The boys loved the moving sidewalks. Once we got to Harrah's we crossed over to Ceasar's Palace, to go into the large mall there. The escilators were even cooler for the boys, because they curved as they went up. We were the only people in the building, besides the occational security guard. Harrison loved the fountains in the Ceasar's palace; "I am going to bring back my swimming suit and go swimming in there." I had to explain to him that those fountains were only for looking at not swimming. Eventually we made the painful treck back to our van.

Later that morning we rode the tram over to Mandalay Bay to visit the Shark Reef aquarium. The kids loved the aquarium, and all of the fish.

The boys and I then went swimming while Olivia took a nap.

That night we all enjoyed an evening at the Tournement of Kings show at the Excalibur. The kids were a little apprehensive in the beginning, but they warmed up quickly to it. We sat in the Dragon section so we got to cheer for the bad guy.

After the show we drove down to the Fremont Experience to see the show there. By the time we got bakc to the hotel, the kids gave us no arguement about going to sleep.

Before we left on Tuesday, the boys and I went to the Spounge Bob 4-D ride, which we gross. If there was a splash on the screen, then we in the audience got wet, or iff there were bubbles on the screen, there were bubbles in real life around us.

All-in-all it was a great trip.

Easter Egg Hunt At the Grandparent's Pfaff

On Friday afternoon the Pfaff family gathered together at Grandma and Grandpa's house for an easter egg hunt. They had dispersed a fifteen gallon bag worth of easter eggs around their backyard for four grandchildren to find and enjoy. I am sorry that the images are bad, I have not yet figured out how to fix this on our camera.

Julian's field trip

I had the privilege of chaperoning a group from Julian's first grade class on a field trip to the Dinosaur Park and the Tree House Museum.  There were five kids in the group, and they all wanted to do something different, but in the end Julian was the natural leader.  The Dinosaur Park was the Dinosaur Park, but the Tree House Museum is where I found out something very interesting about my son...(Wait for it)...he is a ladies man.

They were doing a interactive story in the auditorium, and Julian was chosen to be the merchant of the story.  Well, the merchant needed a wife, so the museum guide asked for volunteers to be his wife, and six girls quickly rose their hands to volunteer.  As quickly as they rose their hands, they put their hands back down in their laps.  The museum guide and I had a good laugh over the fact that their were so many girls willing to be his wife.  Eventually, Annie DeGroot was selected to be his wife, and they had to hold hands in the story.

To make a long story short, they held hands most of the rest of the trip...

Harrison

This morning we were sitting on our bed playing with Olivia (actually we were arguing as to who would feed Olivia her breakfast), when Harrison came in to join us. He quickly accepted the mission of going into the kitchen and getting his little sister a Graham Cracker.

A short time later we hear him struggling with a new box of crackers. The next thing we know the box of crackers popped open and fell to the floor and then "OOHHH! I didn't 'spect that to happen," Harrison exclaims.

We could hardly contain or even disguise our laughter as he came triumphantly back into the room with the broken cracker pieces in hand.

That boy makes me laugh.
